– Artists Name
The name of an artist will play a vital role in
creating a successful identity, so through generating several names and
evaluating their effectiveness then take it to a vote from several people who
fit within the target demographic will ensure I have in some ways a successful
and easy to remember name.
I will be using the feedback from the questionnaires
to create the names. One of the feedback was to create ‘something short and
effective’, another stated that I should use ‘a single name’ and gave the example
of ‘Chloe’, which I have used below.
Chloe
This name was suggested in one of my questionnaires
when I asked participants to give me recommendations and feedback to what they
believe is a successful name. I think this a good name as it is short, easy to
remember as it is a common name, and can be pronounced and spelt correctly
quite easily. However, the simplicity of it takes away from its effectiveness,
this is because the name does not stand out as it is common and not impressive.
Overall, I would not personally use this name however if it is voted by my
demographic that would mean it is more effective than I believe.
Alissa
Mae
The name above was also a suggestion from the
questionnaire, making it different from the other name suggested. This being a
full name makes it more of a personal identity with the artist, and not having
a long second name, ‘Mae’, makes it easy to remember. What is not successful
about this name is it seems very casual for a mainstream artist of the dance
genre as it seems too ordinary and common.
Elle
I find this similar to Chloe as it is short, simple,
which overall makes it easier to remember. Alongside this it is easy to
pronounce and not too complicated. The simplicity could make it look nice when
employing it to copy for the website, and the shortness will make it visually
appealing and easy to read and remember for the viewers.
Eliana
Rojo
When creating a bank of possible names for the artist
I found this one more adventurous than the others as it isn’t a typical name such
as Chloe or Elle but it is instead an exciting name which can allow it to be
remembered. Contradicting this, when applying this name to a particular genre
based on first ideas and stereotypes this name seems to be more appealing for a
more older artist, and not on within the dance genre. Overall I believe that
this name is exciting but not successful for the genre of dance.
Roxie
Healy
This name was created through a random name generator,
which made the results unpredictable but unique. This name would typically fit
a younger artist of the dance genre and is exciting and unique. However this
name is quite unsuccessful as it quite harsh sounding and is complicated to
employ in copy for the website and for remembering.

In order to establish the general favourite on the
names I will conduct a short vote for each name where I will ask 10+ people, a
majority of who will be from an AB audience of 18-25 year to match my demographic,
to decide on their personal favourite name without reading the description
above. Each participant will be allowed one vote. If it comes to a draw after
the 10+ votes I will ask more people to voter but for the two or more in the
draw.
Name with the most votes: Alissa Mae
